Tetrakatus Productions is the "brain child" of Jacob Walker. It is a loose "organization" that was created to produce and distribute Jacob's creative works, as well as helping others to create their artistic creations.

The Name

The name Tetrakatus was derived from the Greek word Tetractys, which was 10 dots in a triangle, and was also considered one of the important mystical symbols of the Pythagoreans.

The Symbols on the Logo

The 10 symbols on the Tetrakatus logo each represent an "art" form. Although in reality, most of these blend together, and choosing 10, is a rather arbitrary and subjective method of defining different forms of art. In the end, Art is.

Pi Symbol - Logic & Math

You might not, on first thought, consider logic an art form. But after studying math, and logic for a period of time, I have realized it is. There is a beauty behind a well written proof, there is value behind the paradox and logical games that cause us to think and expand our minds. Philosophy tends to be built upon logic, also is a pathway to spirituality in many cases.

Many great logicians, mathematicians, and scientists have also been great artists, and spiritual people. Leonardo DeVinci, Renee Descarte, Pythagoras, Lewis Carol, and Einstein are just a few examples. I hope you too will see that logic is not always "cold" but can be vibrant, interesting, and alive.

Picture - Visual Arts

Drawings and paintings have the largest work of visual art. But with computers, programmed visual art like fractals, and interactive pieces are also becoming more prevalent.

Personally, drawing takes me a long time to accomplish, and I do not do it as frequently as other art forms. So the body of work you will find on this site from me is small compared to other areas.

Computer - Technology

Science and Technology are often more tools for artists, than art forms themselves. But in a well written piece of computer code, or in a web page, you can find art in and of itself. But most of the focus here will be on art that is enabled by Technology, which you are looking at a piece right now. The medium of the web gives artists a way of combining not only different elements of art together, but allows art to be interactive, in ways that have not been very possible in the past.

Hammer - Construction

Sculpture, Architecture, Automotive and Culinary arts all are part of this group. I must admit the my foray into these areas have been limited, and not always been my forte.

The Mystic Man - Mysticism

My journey of "spirituality" has led me many places. While I am now a Humanist, I still believe in the mystical, but I define as that which I can not understand, not that which is supernatural. I am quite sure that everything I do not understand is as much a part of nature as I am, and that intelligence must spring forth from this world. How exactly it does so, I'm not sure if I'll know in my lifetime. I have found that art is partly a mystical experience, trance can occur with music, or with seeing a beautiful scene.

A Hand with a Pen - Words

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." - John 1:1

Words whether written or spoken have power. This is known throughout the world through every culture. It is through words, that we primarily communicate our conscious thoughts. As an art, words are used for speeches, acting, literature, and poetry. Most of the work found within is of the last category, although some may argue that the "poems" here are more prose than poetry. I don't think it really matters, you can decide if want to call it one or the other.

Male and Female Signs Entangled - The Art of Relationship

This represents the connection of people, both intellectually, intimately, and/or sexually. All art is both intensely personal, and at the same time a connection to another person.

The Dancer - The Body

There is a wide group of "Body" arts. From physical sports, to martial arts, to miming, juggling, dance and more. These are arts that are both experienced through watching, and through doing. The experience of which is dramatically different whether you are the watcher or the doer.

A Bass Clef - Music

Of all the arts that Tetrakatus Productions embodies, music is the art form that I have recently focused most of my attentions on. In some ways music is the melder of many of the arts together. The structure of sound is very mathematical, and so are the scales, and notation that is used. Music transcends simply observation, and allows one to dance, or simply clap. It has visual sides in music videos, or in seeing a symphony. It conveys mysticism and power.

According to Cultural Anthropologist Alan Lomax, music has several social functions: To Emote, To Socialize, To Educate, To Bond, To Rally, To Intimidate, To Worship, To Seduce, To Coordinate, and last To Entertain. Entertainment is but a fraction of what music's value is. But it is what allows music to enter our lives, and do everything else. In this regard Tetrakatus Productions helps to bring forth music to embetter the world, as well as music to simply entertain.

The Masks - Drama

All the world is a stage, and we are but actors... I wonder sometimes how true this sentiment is, and how much we may not realize it. What masks do we wear when we communicate? What roles do we play in society?
